Patrick Mahomes is urging the Kansas City Chiefs to maintain their edge as they start the season with a 2-0 record, especially after last year’s disappointing campaign that saw them miss the playoffs. Despite their early success, Mahomes wants his teammates to stay grounded and hungry for improvement.
In a media session on Wednesday, Mahomes reflected on the team’s challenging overtime victory against the Indianapolis Colts during “Sunday Night Football.” He emphasized that while accolades have come their way following these wins, it’s crucial not to let praise cloud their focus. “All offseason, we heard about how bad we were,” he noted. “How can you keep that hunger now that everyone is praising you, telling you you’re great?”
The Chiefs will face upcoming matchups against the Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders. While Miami is struggling at 0-2, the Raiders have surprised many with their strong start at 2-0. Mahomes reiterated that complacency is not an option: “We’re nowhere near where we want to be,” he stated, highlighting the need for consistent effort each week.
