I, too, installed a start menu shell and I like it because it gives me a sense of familiarity, but the new tiled start menu can also be used. Point your mouse in one of the right hand corners which brings up the option to use the new start menu.

Yes but some of my programs are not on my start screen like iTunes, Firefox, avast, magic DVD and many others that I could not find a way to get to hence the start shell.

Yup, you could get to your other programs using the new start menu but you have to run a search, the start shell is much easier.

I love W8 actually, and the more I use it and learn what the features do the more I like it.

Well, that obviously wasn’t the problem. Are we talking about the evaluation version or did you pay for it?

paid upgrade version through HP for $15. Couldn’t find anything redeeming in it at all. Before you ask, I didn’t do an upgrade, I did a clean install.

I upgraded and it’s working great for me on a mere 4Gigs of memory…weird.
