Tony Gonzalez says 2012 season probably his last
Posted by Evan Silva on February 2, 2012, 2:19 PM EST

APFalcons tight end Tony Gonzalez signed a one-year, $7 million extension on January 1, and the new deal spanned only one year for good reason.

Gonzalez plans to call it a career after 2012. Tentatively, at least.

“One year,” Gonzalez replied when asked on a Facebook chat Thursday how many more seasons he’ll play. “I said that last year, though, and the year before. But I really do believe this is it.

“First of all, this is the first time my wife has come to me and said, ‘You’re only going to play one more year, right?’”

Gonzalez, who turns 36 later this month, caught 80 passes for 875 yards and seven touchdowns in 2011. While Gonzalez still possesses soft hands, he has lost speed in recent seasons.

Awesome as hope he does go out on top and get a Super Bowl. As he is a class act. On and off the field!

I would like to see him go along with the Chiefs and the Chiefs win, now that would be a top irony?

Yea I heard about this. Would love to see him in the Super bowl.

It’d be great if he signs a 1 day contract with KC to end his career!

If he signed a one year contract with the Chiefs and then gets a Super Bowl, I would be okay with. But if the next season is his last, then I hope he does not, unless somehow becomes a Chief! JMO

What would be “top” irony is if The Falcons met the Chiefs in the Superbowl and the Chiefs won.

Ill be rooting for the Falcons to represent the NFC on 2012. He deserves a SB appearance let alone a playoff win.

I miss Tony it’s a darn shame he was traded from Kansas City and wasn’t permitted to finish his career here. Ah, whatever.

He wanted it the Chiefs did not seek out a trade until after Tony demanded to be traded to a contender.
