I would be irate at my players if they didn’t attempt to tackle legs.
That’s how you stop a runner by yourself.
The ball-carrier knows that you are coming.
Only a staionary QB is generally defensless with the football.
I find nothing dirty about tackling legs, only blocking them.

Had he driven and gotten the legs immediately, he probably keeps Miller short of the first down, there.
If you are the ball-carrier in the open field, then beware of defenders.

09/11/2009 at 3:50 am #90092409/11/2009 at 4:31 am #90092809/11/2009 at 4:58 am #900939::Guess to me it all depends on which way you go for the legs, if you are heading right at the player … might be construed as dirty if your going at them from behind or the side and you wrap and not drive through … that is the best way to tackle. The key is to not hit the leg where you know it isnt going to be able to bend the right direction or get out of the way.
