Excellent observations, Dougster and I’m going to rewind to another piece of history that occurred in November of 2015. This was going into that 2nd game against the Donkeys & at that time, I believed the Chiefs were at a real crossroads going into that game having lost to Horseface Manning and the Donkeys seven (7) straight times & simply could not afford to absorb another defeat to the Donkeys at that time. Fortunately, the Chiefs went into Donkeytown & decisively dominated the Donkeys (putting Manning through a career worst day) and got off of that schnide.
We are at that same type of crossroads going into this game against Indy.
Was very proud of the ’15 Chiefs team. That team fell into a slump but decided not to stay there. Despite playing flat against the Patriots we were still in that game, at least until Knile Davis fumbled. In some ways the ’18 Colts are much like the ’15 Chiefs – got off to a very poor start, but worked their way back and got a playoff win.
Have the Colts gotten into the back of our brains the way the Broncos used to? From a historical point, maybe. We’ve lost our share of playoff games to them. That game in ’95 was tough to watch. ’03 sucked because of our D; ’13 wasn’t much different.
On the local news, some players were being asked about the Colts and the playoff history of going against them. Kelce just rolled his eyes when asked, like it was something he was fed up with hearing about. And I hope that the entire team is just as fed up, too.

That playoff win also came in Houston for both teams. I hope they continue to follow the 15 chiefs pattern and lose on the road the following week

This
Hopefully they are fed up enough to put an end to it. This team SHOULD beat the Colts it’s up to them to get it done and end all the talk of the past

I don’t think the Colts have gotten in the back of anyone’s brains, so much as the fact that the playoff losses to them are so memorable combined with the two recent losses at Arrowhead.
Kelce’s reaction is exactly what it should be, as in, “all that is in the past & you can’t dwell on that”. The Chiefs did beat Indy at Indy two years ago. Indy is a good team right now, but they can be had.

Im not sure about what yall think but im done with Eric Berry. I hope chiefs make an injury settlement and be dkne with him. Hea had one good year and hes eating up alot of cap space. Qe paid him the top safety money and i dont think hes played a full game since. 1 good year out of how many years hes been here? He is a unreliable.
My thoughts exactly. It’s time to move on from Berry after this season.

You’re not the only one. We should’ve kept Poe.

What is up with Houston? That team showed up like they didn’t want the W at all. Colts just hammered them in that first half. The Texans did managed to get a scoring drive in, but after that acted like it was time to go back and sit on the bench.

Going by the reactions of the players, think they got it. My hope is that everyone in that stadium came to bring the noise. It’s going to be cold (34 degrees is the forecasted high, low of 28). Remember that the crowd noise in ’95 was affected by the cold weather that night.

Yeah Poe would have been more of a factor than Berry has in a long shot. We also would have been able to draft other positions instead of trying to draft to fill his spot. I dont think anyone we have had since has matched his stats or impact on the field.

The Houston receiving corps was short-handed going into that game, but you are correct that Houston didn’t seem to play with any sense of urgency.
01/12/2019 at 3:46 am #1069856Less than 24 hours till kickoff. Snow is in the forecast. Chiefs will have to ignore the elements. They did ignore the snow in Washington back in 2013 & came away with a 45-10 win, so this current Chiefs team will have to be ready to ignore weather & ignore PAIN.
