You got that right. Time to relish those trophies and savor the accomplishments this year.

As for that sick and empty feeling that we had felt from past playoff debacles, it’s great not to have to feel it this season & let someone else have to deal with it for a change, as untold numbers of Chiefs fans, myself included, were sick of that f****** s*** !!

The thing about this season, compared to last season, this season felt EARNED. Last year was almost fantasy like given the numbers Mahomes put up. This season was much less about the numbers and a lot more about scrapping our way back.

You are damn right it was earned.

This team overcame a lot to get to the Championship

Week 1 the MVP was hurt early on and it bothered him for weeks. Then we all know about the Thursday night in Denver. This team had many things that would have had past Chiefs teams pack up their tents and go home. This team didn’t

This squad wasn’t having it, period. One of the big things about this squad, is that during the season we won the last six straight games, which is no easy feat and tells you something about the character of this team. While I will probably never forgive the ’97 donkeys at the same time think the Houston Texans playoff game this year was a massive statement to the NFL.

This team also had a re-lapse in history. When we won the super bowl in ’69, we got there because a third string QB came in and held the team together with six wins (Mike Livingston). The second string QB went down to injury, as had Len Dawson. KC went in against a team (Vikings) with a really bad-arse D-line known as the “Purple people eaters”. Fast forward to 2019, Mahomes goes down to injury, our 2nd QB was unavailable, so in walks Matt Moore. Granted he didn’t get six wins but he definitely kept us in the games he played and did get us one win (against the Vikes…lol) Also, what did everyone and his brother’s cousin talk about on the SF side of the ball? Their pass rush.

    Those rings were earned. Period.

We both know the taintedness of the ’97 Donkeys and their so-called ‘SB win’. None of the Donkeys last 4 appearances were earned in legit fashion on a level playing field. Everybody has seen for the last 4 years what happens to the Donks when they are made to operate & play under the same rules as all the other 31 teams.

Donkeys have never had a post-season to even remotely match the one KC had in 2019. And the Chiefs DID earn it in legit fashion on a level playing field. In fact, the AFCCG was one of the cleanest & most well played games by both teams that anyone has ever seen — the Chiefs just simply out-fought & out-thought the Titans. In the SB, the Niners couldn’t get anything done on Offense, Defense, and Special Teams in the last 9 minutes of the game while the Chiefs could do very little wrong and never gave the 49ers the break that the Niners needed. The 2019 Chiefs made history wiping out double digit leads to opposing teams in 3 straight post-season games & never gave up.

The 2019 Chiefs overcame a lot & they were a team that stood poised & they were a team that responded to challenge, ready to make & take any break. They earned their 1st Lombardi trophy & I say 1st Lombardi because the SB trophy that the ’69 squad earned wasn’t called a Lombardi trophy, it was called an AFL-NFL World Championship trophy. The SB trophy wasn’t named the Lombardi trophy until the next year after Vince had passed away on Sept. 3, 1970.

The Donkeys can have their 3 tarnished Lombardi trophies with the taintedness of them stuck in Elway’s arse. The Chiefs SB trophies shine with LEGITIMACY.

Once again congratulations to the 2019 Kansas City Chiefs on a job well done !!

Gonna be fun having a couple of days off from work, and being able to watch replays that TopekaRoy posted, of the most thrilling post-season that any team & it’s fanbase has ever had — our 2019 Chiefs.

I have watched the replay a couple times on NFL network. It’s amazing to go back and maybe pick up somethings you might not have noticed in the moment of watching it live

And I’m sure that you are seeing that those Web News comments along the lines of “refs helped KC win” is just a bunch of false spin.

My brother was rooting for the 49ers and going on about the calls during the game

This is what I said to him

The PI before the half and the TD to take the lead were the biggest gripes that I have heard. If you give them that long pass to Kittle before the half with the time left they probably kick a field goal. And if you take away the questionable TD and give the Chiefs 0 not even a field goal that’s 10 points. The Chiefs won by 11 the 49ers are still short 1 point

And of course, the 49er backers will never talk about how their Defense got ran over in two plays after the Chiefs made that 4th down stop. The Niners weren’t stopping the Chiefs on the ground like they had done to the Vikings and the Packers. Williams was gaining consistently all through the game & then with the game on the line, the Niners D got gashed for a long TD run.

One more thing. Nobody is talking about Juan Thornhill’s absence throughout the post-season. Thornhill had developed into a very good Safety and in the last 6 regular season games he had helped make the Chiefs Pass Defense a lot tougher over the 2nd half of the season & his absence was felt occasionally in the post-season.

A thought on the postseason run

I find it kind of fitting that it all played out the way it did.

Think of all the postseason games that the Chiefs franchise has found a way to blow. Missing 3 field goals to lose by 3. Blowing the 38-10 lead. And then the 21-3 lead. Managing to lose a game in which the other team never forced a punt.

It just feels fitting that they would finally manage to reach the goal being the team that overcame the leads. The whole run just seems like it was just one of those special years that was meant to be.

The irony is, the whole playoff debacle scenario started with the ’71 Christmas Day OT loss to Miami. Fast forward to 2019 & the Chiefs get the 2nd seed thanks to the Miami Dolphins upset at NE in the season final, they win the SB in Miami, and one of the playoff standouts is a player let go and seldom used by Miami (Damien Williams).

    Gotta love the irony.
