I think we have very good mods here. The problem, as I see it, is that opinions and personalities clash. I trust the mods and members in good standing to handle those clashes in a mature, respectful manner. Having respect for each others point of view means allowing one another the opportunity to present said point of view without personally demeaning each other.

Agree to disagree on some things and move on.

They are doing a great job rebuilding this team! The idea of a couple “great” pick-ups to get us over the top, is nuts. It rarely ever works anywhere. Quality players, in the right role, and add depth and good coaching. We’re on the right track!

Well Canada, if we hold hands, it still leaves one open for beer! There is a upside.

My thoughts to follow are not intended for those who lack patience with reading, hahaha.

I read comments in this discussion related to fans who wear rose colored glasses, are homers, or only have positive views never negative about our Chiefs. No doubt I am one of those homer fans on the surface most of the time. However, simply because as a fan I choose to focus on positive aspects of my beloved Chiefs, rather than dwell on negative…doesn’t mean I am naive and blind to the negative. I wisely see all things and people clearly in life, including our KC Chiefs.

My dad became a Chiefs fan in 1963 upon their arrival in KC…I was 7 yrs. old then. My first vivid memory of becoming a Chiefs fan myself was on January 11th, 1970. I don’t remember much about Super Bowl IV when my dad, brothers, and myself watched the game on TV. What I remember most was the excitement in my dads voice and expressions of joy each time the Chiefs had a good play, scored, and ultimately won the Super Bowl. From that day forward I found myself becoming interested and excited anticipating each new Chiefs season more and more, retaining faith and hope it would lead to another victorious Super Bowl. I wanted to feel the passion within me as a fan that I witnessed in my dad when his Chiefs played in and won Super Bowl IV.

I am now entering my 41st season just as I have the previous 40, but with 41 times the amount of anticipation and excitement I had when the season began in the Fall of 1970. As well, I am entering my 41st season with 40 years of Chiefs fan history in my mind and cherished memories held in my heart.

KC Chiefs football isn’t just a game to me, it isn’t as simple as winning or losing for me personally. Being a KC Chiefs fan for me is a way of life and a very part of who I am as a person. One of the first facts mentioned as to who I am when being described by others to those unfamiliar with me is…”she’s a KC Chiefs fan to the core, as diehard as they come.” I’m honored to be described as such, but the most important aspects of why I’m a Chiefs fan to the core are not mentioned. You see, those describing me are not me, they don’t feel in their heart and soul what I do. Their minds don’t retain my cherished memories, nor history related to my beloved KC Chiefs.

Almost 41 years later I indeed have a passion felt within me as a fan of the KC Chiefs, but it is not the same Chiefs passion my dad felt. My dad was never able to attend a Chiefs game at Arrowhead, he only watched games on TV or listened on radio. He never experienced participating as a 12th man factor, he never heard nor felt the energy of “the loudest stadium in the NFL”, he never saw with his own eyes “the sea of red.” My dad never tailgated, he never felt the pre-game excitement among Chiefs fans in the parking lots at Arrowhead. He never smelled the soulful aroma of tailgate food in the air. Dad never experienced the genuine friendship bonds made with fellow Chiefs fans, he was never a member of a ‘Chiefs family in heart’. Dad never met a Chiefs player having an opportunity to chat football with them, he never attended a training camp, nor Draft Day party. He never experienced the joy of taking his kids to a game, nor his grandkids.

I could continue noting more aspects of being a Chiefs fan my dad didn’t experience, but enough have been mentioned to make my point. As a Chiefs fan I have yet to feel the passion my dad felt when his Chiefs played in and won a Super Bowl, but the passion I feel within as a Chiefs fan my dad never felt. I can honestly say without hestitation, that I wouldn’t trade the passion I feel and have felt as a Chiefs fan the last 40 yrs., for that of what my dad felt when his Chiefs won Super Bowl IV. I believe what I have experienced as a Chiefs fan is by far of greater value than that my dad did…what I have experienced is absolutely priceless, and more worthy of a Super Bowl victory.

Being a Kansas City Chiefs fan for me is about the people. It’s about the Chiefs related memories I’ve created with my kids, grandkids, & brother Ricky (RIP). It’s about the friends I’ve met along the way I hold dear to my heart, the memories we share as fans and friends related to our Chiefs and beyond, both happy and sad. It’s about love, laughter, tears, and many other human emotions. Winning is simply the equivelant of icing on the cake, which is meaningless without the foundation of the cake underneath.

I am rich in Chiefs history, experiences, memories, and passion. I therefore can afford to splurge on a pair of RED colored glasses each year retaining faith and hope with every new season my Chiefs will go to Super Bowl, regardless of any imperfections I choose to ignore. I’m the grand master of my own Chiefs parade, and I don’t let opinions of others rain on it. There are many serious negative aspects of life I can’t control, but I most certainly can control whether or not being a Chiefs fan brings me positive or negative feelings. Feeling positive about something feels one hell of a lot better than negative does.

GO CHIEFS!!! CHIEFS WILL!!! Super Bowl bound!! YEEBOWEHAW!!!

Fact….Kelly Gregg is on this team, by seasons end we will know for a FACT if it was an upgrade.

Opinion….Franklin would have made this team better. Even if Gregg fails, it will still be an unprovable opinion that Franklin would have been an upgrade. We are not discussing the same things.

Ok, and, just to be clear….

These comments below fall under the OPINON catergory, right?

Not to mention the huge upgrade over the back up QB with Stanzi and Palko competing for the #2

and we have upgraded by adding Breaston and Baldwin.

Defensively Ron Edwards and Shaun Smith were replaced by Kelly Gregg…a big upgrade at NT.

Add in Houston when and if he signs and we have a significant pass rush off the edges with him and Hali.

Add in Berry, Lewis Flowers and Carr roaming the secondary and we will have a deadly defense.

Complain about Mod abuse all you want.

But you have been judging this team without them playing a single down, exactly as I suggested when asking Matthew why it is ok to do it with a favorable view, but not if you have a less favorable view?

But, since then, you have been trying to “defend yourself” as being in some other catergory.

You have made speculations about this team, without having seen them play together.

That is not a bad thing.

I think it is a good thing.

But, you seem to think that I was making some sort of attack on you for it.

    That was no the case.

Just using your favorable opinion as an example of such, and trying to expose Matthew to his own bias in the notion of not allowing people to speculate.

    HOLY FU*K!!! CAN YOU READ??

Stanzi and Plako are ON The CHIEFS. At seasons end we can discuss how they played, the impact they had on the team, the stats they put up with the CHIEFS. Can we do that with the players that someone wied we had?? NO!! Why is that so hard for you to understand??

BTW…when does Chiefsrules get his spanking? Or is this sort of public reprimand reserved specially for me?

IF you take two mini helmets, flip the upside down and attach a chain to them, they become beer holders. We could still carry three!!

I see this less as a reprimand, public or otherwise, and more of an attempt to clarify a point of view. I think that moderation in this thread has been very lenient. There have been statements made in this thread that I as a mod could have doled out infractions for, but decided to let it play out. I could have closed the thread but decided to allow everyone the opportunity to express their point of view. It is my hope that all involved can find a way to gain some common ground and continue to respectfully entertain and debate opposing perspectives.

There were no problems before any mods stepped in. I know you guys can close threads, send out infractions, ban people, change posts. Whatever, the thread did not need clarification. Yet here we are still getting spoken to like we are children.

Did anyone here have a problem with anything in this thread? Feel free to speak up. People disagree, adults sometimes say crazy things like wet blanket or troll. Is that really a need for you guys to “clarify” points of view for me? Ad I say me, because no mod is trying to “clarify” my point to anyone else.

It was not my intention to speak down to anyone or to treat anybody as a child; if that is how I came off then I do apologize. Everything I have said here has been an attempt to foster a mature environment. I will step away from the thread rather then be counter productive to the process by my presence here.
