You think we are improving? Let’s see what happens this year then and talk about it during the season. I don’t see a 34 year old Gregg as an improvement over Edwards. Maybe if we had gotten Gregg 5 years ago. lol

Just because it might not be who you want doesn’t mean it’s not a guy who’s going to improve this team. In the last two years this team has done NOTHING but get better doing what they are doing this offseason. Why not give this team a chance before you complain.First off, I am not complaining.
But to expect the team to be in the hunt for players who are proven talent is more than fair.
To expect more than just sifting through rubble, hoping to find all the diamonds is quite reasonable.
matthewschiefs;231965 wrote:My whole argument isn’t that money can’t improve a team. It’s that it’s not the ONLY way to improve a team. And before you talk about how an owner being cheap is hurting the team lets see them take ONE snap on the football field in an NFL game to see what the guys that they have brought in can do. What’s so wrong with that?First off, I have not said that the owner is huting the team. Just mentioned that the possibility should be considered, due to the circumstances that we have.
How about this, instead of you being so insistent that everybody use your barometer to judge the team, how about if you use yours, and allow others to use theirs?
What’s so wrong with that?
If you choose to not have an opinion (judgement) on the matter then what is it you are doing?
Just trying to shut down others who do have an opinion? And why are you specifically going after the less favorable opinion, and completey ignoring the more positive opinion?

You will quietly fade into the background once you see that we are a better team.
So a 34 year old career NT is not as good as a 32 year old converted 4-3 DT. Gotcha…you probably know more than Pioli does anyways.

Well if you want to keep talking about it I am all in then! LOL. Yes that is what I said about Gregg and is it you that said the Chiefs are building for Championships in the future not just players that will get us a ring in one year then turn back to bad team after that? I am not sure how Gregg will give us championships in the future being 34 and on just a one year contract. I imagine if Gregg were really still that good Baltimore would have held onto him and other teams would have shown more interest in him as well. That was going to be your argument on why we let Edwards go too right?

Oh and Canada as far as improving on a 2-14 record I think you or I could have coached this team to a better record. LOL

There is also numerous quotes from Ravens players saying they will miss him the most as he was a key leader in their locker room.
Remember we drafted a J. Powe. They say Gregg has been there every day last week working with Powe after the coaches have left the field.

That was going to be your argument on why we let Edwards go too right?Let me slow it down for you a little then…We drafted a nose tackle in the Draft by the name of Powe. Perhaps Pioli is smart enough and is a good enough talent evaluator to know that he is going to be a starting NT for a long time to come and he needs a guy who has played that position for 10 years or so to teach him and get him up to speed. You however would prefer to take a high priced NT (like Franklin) sign him long term and then we end up with 2 NTs that cost a sh!tload of $$.
The reason Bal probably let him go would more likely be that they have a consistent pro bowl NT in Haloti Ngata…perhaps you have heard of him? A very talented NT so i dont doubt for a second that with salary caps etc, the need for 2 NTs on the same team may make one of them expendible. As far as him being on someone elses radar…I have no idea. What is your source of info that no one else was interested in him?
The odd thing about 1 year contracts….if someone plays well, they can sign another next season.

And who gets to judge that we are just sifting through the rumble.
I am not saying that you are Chiefsrule are wrong about what you have said about this offseason all I am saying is before you talk about how the guys we have not brought in won’t help make this a better team or is “just cheap” like chiefsrule says LET THEM PLAY ONE SNAP. What’s so hard about doing that for your favorite team?chief31;232063 wrote:How about this, instead of you being so insistent that everybody use your barometer to judge the team, how about if you use yours, and allow others to use theirs? What’s so wrong with that?

So now your not allowed to present your case when you disagree with someone?
Expecting a teams fan to give the team a chance to PLAY A GAME before they talk about every guy brought in only being brought in because there cheap is now the way to go? The FACT is I can’t say that we have upgraded the team any you can’t say they haven’t because THEY HAVE NOT PLAYED ONE SNAP. All I am saying is before you accuse a owner of hurting the team by being cheap or saying that the way this team has gone about building the team won’t get us anywhere GIVE THIS TEAM A CHANCE. What’s so wrong about that?08/05/2011 at 5:25 pm #971131chiefsrule

Well lets save some money and get rid of the coaches is the players are doing the coaching. You would think Gregg would need more time learning our plays for himself so he can help this defense. Sounds like we just got him to coach.

So how much did Franklin or Gregg sign for? Can you tell me? If Powe might be that good why did 31 other teams not get him sooner? If we sign players to one year contracts who says they will resign with us the next year? We weren’t going to sign Franklin and Gregg but I think we should have went with the younger player who Pro Football Focus ranked the #2 run stopping interior lineman last year.

What’s so wrong about that?Well matthew I agree let’s see what happens. There are some of us that are tired of waiting and want to see results now. We feel the rebuilding is taking longer than it should and don’t really see the signs yet of being serious about making a run at a Super Bowl. But on the other hand there are those that have more patience and love the Chiefs no matter what and support them for all their efforts. Bottom line is we are all Chief fans and want to see them do well. So lets see what happens. Some expect us to improve. Myself and a few others see us regressing. But dang it at least we have some football to talk about now!!
Go Chiefs.

You don’t back up your points with any evidence that you have any real football knowledge… just regurgitating pro football focus. pretty much all you have brought to 29 pages of forum is “we are cheap” and “franklin or bust”.
Read and do some research for a change….
after all our FA signings we look to be around 10-12 mil under the cap… there are now a lot of teams spending less than us.
Recapping the Cap For The Chiefs « Arrowhead Addict | A Kansas City Chiefs blog
And to use a little foresight here comes a post about how we didn’t spend it the right way… boy oh boy we all can’t wait to read.
So please chiefsrule… you wet blanket… enlighten us some more about how our offseason has been crap, and we are gonna lose bigtime, and we are cheap… all whilst not having even seen this team in pads.
