Almost 2:00PM & I got up @ 12:00PM. Heading back to my pad in downtown. Traffic is insane here (like any major city) Using the voice/text via my Android. Still can’t believe we won! Simply an amazing game!!! Not happy about that we lost Chris. Alex Smith is on fire! Maybe I’ll get Ahmet a KC shirt. He deserves it as he’s been watching the games with me late night. I miss Chinese food from Boston. It sucks here, but if you want a falafel or pizza, it so rocks in Istanbul. Kayla is coming over @ 4:00PM with some food. I think I’ll slow down on my “Play-by-Play from Turkey. I like telling you guys about my life, but I sure it’s getting old. I need to find something to do with myself. I’m a little bored. Sitting @ the beach (pool) can become tiresome. Might sound crazy but it can become so.

I won’t CT. Maybe I’ll make it a “Sunday” thing because I’m up way before you guys. I just checked & the Pittsburgh game is @ 4:25PM. Come on! I want a 1:00PM game. I’m tired of staying up so late. Hate the time difference. Burning through some cash here as well. Lucky that my ex-employer (GlaxoSmithKline) is paying me for another 6 months with benefits. Also lucky that Kayla’s family is well enough off. I always pay when we go out (again…Middle East thing) I’ll keep you up-to-date.

BTW CT. I forgot to mention..Istanbul is a divided city by the Bosphorus straight. I’m sure you had a handle on this. (East & West. Europe & Asian districts) I’m on the European side. The quickest way to get to the Asia side is by ferry (15-20 minutes & costs $3.00 a person) The East side (Asia) has become a “hipster” type of place now & the European side is more conservative & business like. If you want American music, then the East side has it (ironic) There are three bridges going over, but you shouldn’t even try with your car as it can take forever to get there on 4 wheels on a Friday or Saturday night. Kayla & I hang on the Euro side as it has the best restaurants & we are both conservative & sack-out somewhat early. Plus, Ahmet home is on the European side (like 10-15 minutes from downtown) This city is MASSIVE! Crazy just walking down the street. There are so many people!

Alex…..Thanks for the edification on Istanbul. A city I know next to nothing about other than what you tell me and from my reading. I traveled a lot in the ’70s and ’80s…France, Portugal, Germany, Berlin, Britain, India, Rhodesia, South Africa, Angola, Mozambique, Zambia, Southwest Africa (Namibia), Botswana, Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and all over the Caribbean….but I never got to Turkey or any of the Middle or far East. Since the start of the ’90s I haven’t traveled much except here in the U.S. And I rather miss international travel so I’m especially enjoying hearing about your travels to countries I have never seen. Thank you. I realize this is a very strange place to be discussing international travel but I enjoy learning new things and since Coach doesn’t seem to mind I hope you’ll continue to allow me to “see” Turkey vicariously through your eyes.

Kris…I’m glad I can help out. I hope “Coach” is cool with my replies/thread. Wow…Dude you have been too so many places beyond me! Now I wonder why you have a handle on languages! As I mentioned…Turkey wasn’t even in my sights! There are a lot of German people here (a decent amount of marriages) The Turkish girls really love German guys, but Kayla bit on me! She knew I was American by the way I dressed (Sandals, Shorts & a T-Shirt that said “Boston Whaler”) Total give away. She was like you look Turkish (I’m 60% American Indian & have super dark skin) Dude…She’s not perfect. Her teeth are a tad off, but I’m nitpicking. She has such a great heart. If I’m still with her in 6+ months (Which I think I will be), then things will get serious. Ahmet won’t be cool with it otherwise. Keep in mind, that I go to church with him everyday in the morning & he’s mentions…”So what about Kayla” Everyday! She’s considered old for a Turkish girl (she looks like she’s 25!) He wants her married. If I ask for her hand, I know he would give it too me right away. Here’s the thing…I don’t feel “boxed-in all” I’m just rolling with it & having a great time!

PS: Wasn’t Rhodesia the old English name for Zimbabwe? I know nothing about Africa. Never touched soil there.

Yes. What is now Zimbabwe (I HATE using that name) was once Rhodesia. Named after Cecil Rhodes (Rhodes Scholarship). Yeah I should have been a History Teacher but life and the Cold War got in the way. Now I’m just a broke down old Chiefs fan.

Alex….I can make no intelligent comments on how Coach views this thread (other than perhaps thinking WTF? with a smile on his face) but having been here a while I’ve gotten the impression that so long as we are polite and don’t blatantly cuss and always find our way back to talking Chiefs he will allow a fair amount of thread drift.

Women and “relationships”…..I’m a 3 time loser. 3 divorces. So it would be unwise to listen to me on the subject but I wish you happiness yet urge you to take a few hours ever week to SERIOUSLY ask yourself if you are doing the intelligent thing.

Race….who gives a damn? You are part American Indian and I am part India Indian. We’re all just people. Some people are good and some are bad. And that applies to all races.

Kayla’s looks teeth etc….Again, who cares? You are obviously happy. I suspect she is. Ahmet seems reasonably content at the prospect of marrying off his daughter so for now at least all seems good. Just keep enough cash or credit to run fast as hell if you decide that is the right solution.

International travel….I was very fortunate that my mother and step-father considered international travel to be an important part of a good education. The rest was pure dumb luck. While I was in college in the Carter era when the economy was a shambles and jobs were hard to come by an older Fraternity Brother who worked for Uncle Sam told me about an opportunity for “contractors”. The job market sucked so I jumped on it. Traveled widely in the late ’70s and ’80s. Got fired and blackballed in ’87 because I got too emotionally involved in my work and “went off the reservation” and exceeded my authority. Contractors are expendable. Another Fraternity Brother bailed me out and helped me get a job promoting Tourism to the Caribbean so I traveled in the Caribbean a lot until Pan Am, Eastern and Air Florida went bust. Then I became an outside salesman and was pretty good at it for a while. Now life is boring except for our CHIEFS.

BTW CT…I’m from the Nanticoke tribe. From Delaware & Maryland (Eastern Shore of Maryland) I had no clue you were Indian. You’re correct. People are people & there are good ones & not so. I knew I was going to do the foreign girl thing (since I was a kid) Always loved “dark girls” My ex is half Scottish & Lebanese (weird combo) She’s just shy of 6’3″ (amazing legs) & she runs like 5+ miles a day. I think we “hooked-up” because we we’re both so tall. What started it all? My babysitter was Italian & very dark (Nina) Yet not that pretty (average @ best) I so loved her just the same. She was so kind too me. I’m still friends with her on Facebook today!

I know Pittsburgh has issues, but we have never done well by them. I so remember that Joe Montana comeback in the playoffs (maybe 92-93?) Mike Tomczak was the QB for the Steelers.

    Alex…I replied to your PM…

I’m actually part Indian (from India), part Scot, part French. So like many folks I’m a little bit of everything. My great great Grandmother was an Indian girl from NW India (up near the Persian border) who married a British officer back when India was an English colony. He took her back to England where she took many lovers (she was a slut) and soon died from the lousy weather in England. He buried her under a headstone that said “She loved much”. Guess he had a good sense of humor. :)

The Steelers….ANOTHER big challenge this week. Big Ben embarrassed himself this past weekend and he openly mused that maybe he didn’t have it any more. So he and the Steelers will be looking for some SERIOUS ego recovery against us. That’s a tough thing to fight. But then we’ll be wanting some payback for the playoff loss at Arrowhead last year so I’m expecting MAXIMUM EFFORT and a very hard-fought game from both teams. If we can pull this one out even with all our injuries then I think we firmly establish ourselves as the best in the AFC

Kris…Sorry but I’m amused by this reply! So your grandmother liked the guys I guess? Love the gravestone passage. India has a lot of nice looking women. Again…for me, it’s the dark skin. There’s something so hot about it! Dark hair & skin simply rock. Funny…I’m like 4 shades darker then Kayla. I tried to pick-up an Indian girl in college (U of Delaware) I think her name was “Nabah”? She wouldn’t have a thing to do with me because she had a boyfriend @ the time. I tried really hard! A year later, she was looking for me & I was dating another girl & didn’t accept. So long ago (1985 or 86′? maybe)

Alex….Can I be REAL HONEST with you? Judging from when you were in college you are about 8-12 years younger than me. So perhaps the ’60s (JFK, RFK, MLK dead…the Vietnam war protests etc) were all a very real part of my life. I’m not “talking down” to you, just talking about events that shaped my life and continue to shape my life. I’ve always lived “on the edge”. I’ve been everything from a day-laborer to having a signed pic of me shaking hands with President Reagan in the White House. Yeah…I’ve had my ups and downs. Bum to King and everywhere in between. I grew up when the South still had legal or de-facto segregation. So life and the years have taught me a lot. You keep mentioning that you have a dark skin color. WHY? Once upon a time I would have been called “white” and you would have been called either “Red, Mediterranian or Colored”. Don’t mean SQUAT. There are whites that are idiots. There are blacks that are idiots and their is every skin color in between that are idiots. Skin color doesn’t mean a thing. It’s the mind and heart that matter. Sorry for the rant, but your mentions of your skin color bother me. Regardless of your skin color I’d eat, drink and chase women with you any damned day. And because you are real Chiefs Fan that makes you my friend.

    Best…..Kris

Kris: I’m just speaking of the exterior of women, not what makes them a “person” You have a few years on me & yes…I didn’t experience that time. I came 10 years after. If you & I hung out, then I wouldn’t even see the skin scenario. Remember that many people thought I was foreign growing-up. I’m simply stating that I really like “dark skinned women” That’s all. There no “race” attached too it. I don’t think like that. I grew-up with progressive, liberal parents & they taught me about equality & humanity & to treat everyone with respect. Still holds today. I’m glad I can call you my friend.
