I have an idea regarding the mored Aged Threads on the forums. Most of the threads in forums I have either owned or helped to run have a rule about how long a inactive thread remains in the forum. If a thread is older than 3 monthes and has not had any activity it should either be removed or have a setting on the forum that removes it automatically. I know Invision boards have that function and if your does it would be a great idea especially for newer member that come in looking for things to chat about. Just a thought, hope it helps out.

07/08/2009 at 3:45 am #888562Most of the forums I have been a part of don’t remove threads. They may archive them but you can still access them. This is Coach’s baby so I am sure he probably has a plan in place if things get too heavy or dated.
07/08/2009 at 4:11 am #888567They get archived. I think there is an option to close them, but I haven’t noticed it being a problem.
07/08/2009 at 5:10 am #888571IMO it’s good keeping the older threads. In 10 years we can look back at what we were talking about. And ‘I’ could see what it was like being 12!
07/08/2009 at 8:12 pm #888594It was just a suggestion as I got blistered over a thread that is 2 yrs old and for some reason it was on page one of the Locker room. I didn’t dig it out it was there and I simply replied like it was current , I wouldn’t think to look at a thread on page one as being 2 yrs old. Anyway Coach, your The Man here and call it how you see it.
07/09/2009 at 11:26 pm #888678I think it’s nice to have the old threads still here. Yes it’s fun to sometimes look at what was said in past times. And with the search engine feature here it makes it useful to look for threads and posts of particular subjects. And cuts down on repetitive posts going over ground already covered.
I can see how someone replying to a thread that was last posted in months or years ago could cause a bit of confusion to some thinking it’s a current running thread, but there is the date at the top of each post. And also kind of fun to see an old thread suddenly referenced to the Crowd again, IMO.

I poured blood, sweat and tears into those threads…
Should we bring back the daily “How to” threads!?!
