MemberThanks for the posts all,
There is a Royals game at 7:05 on the chiefs home opener. I am not sure how that will effect the gates opening, or whatever. Normally the gates open 4 hours before the game I believe. The main reason for that is it allows time to tailgate, but not so much time that the majority of the fans are too drunk. I know 4 hours is enough time to get real drunk, but that was the explaination I received when I asked about the time the stadium would open. As of now, they are trying to fight the logistical elements with having a Royals game that will start during the “tailgating” time for the chiefs and get over after the chiefs game starts. Don’t be surprised if they do not allow anyone into the parking lot until 5:00.
The hotel would be a great place to meet once we find out what time they will let us in. I know in the past it pays off to be lined up at the gate at least 30 minutes earlier than when they open. It is a mad dash into the stadium once it opens. If the gates open at 5:00 then we maybe should meet at the hotel parking lot about 4:00 and take about 15 mins or so to meet and greet. I am looking forward to the game, and hanging out with some real football fans!!!
If you have any other questions or concerns please let me know.

MemberPlease keep this thread used only for the Home opener.
I know there is another post here for the tailgating but I made a comment that a couple years ago, I found the best way to get a big group of people parked together is to meet off the stadium at a specific time, and then drive in a convoy to the stadium, that way we can all be through the gates at the same time and be able to block off a bunch of spaces. If anyone has a good idea of where to meet or what time I can attempt to organize this. I will be coming in from Hawaii, but I am familiar with KC and a good central location would make this easy. Also, if you have the ability to bring a grill or a canopy or something let me know. This seems pretty early but the better we can organize this the better (bigger) we can get with the most limited ammount of time wasted at the game trying to “find” everyone else. Any ideas or help would be great.

MemberYeah we are in. Let me know about the parking passes, I may pick one up. The quicker we can get together the better it will be. If there are people driving the best thing may be to meet up at say denny’s just before, and then “convoy” over so we have multipule cars together and then we can make sure we have a large block of space. I don’t know, but just an idea. I cant wait for the game. Its been three years since my last one,and that’s three years too long!!!!

MemberHey I just found this site, and I am super stoked. I grew up in KC and currently work for the Army in Hawaii. I am going to be back for my 10 year class reunion the following week, and I am trying to get tickets for the MNF game. I haven’t been able to get to a game for almost 3 years, (two of which I was in Iraq). I would like to get involved with your trip and make a day of it. Please let me know. I would need 2.
if it wasn’t for the espn story I never would have found this site.
you guys rock
