If we don’t bring back Colquitt I think we should draft Michael Dickson Punter University of Texas he is the best in the draft and in the Texas Bowl he downed 10 of 11 punts inside the 20 yard line
Sounds interesting. Might be able to get him in the 6th or 7th

2nd is we have a weapon in waiting not on the 53 man roster this year who has the best hands of all our WR’s and the speed and working with Mahomes in practice. If any of you Google Gehrig Deiter from Alabama you will like this one he could become our #2 WR
He looks like he has potential.

All we’re gonna get at most is a second pick for Alex, but probably a third. (I’d like both lol) But I’m just going by what san fran gave for garoppolo. Do you think that one pick will make all the difference if we sink or swim? I guess we could trade it for a couple later round picks, and, of course, it decreases our cap.
Don’t be surprised if Alex stays right here and plays out his contract.Y’know Bike I’m not at all against Alex playing out his contract. Not one bit. I’m just being fatalistic and saying I don’t think it will happen. We’re facing a triple-edged sword….no cap space, limited draft picks and a Defense that needs a major overhaul. I don’t see how we fix all 3 problems while still keeping Alex.

Now you are putting me “on the spot” there Chiefster! Would you do me a favor please? Go out and shoot a crow in case I get hungry after week 17 next year.

I would’ve said Foles but he is playing for a SB Shot so no way he comes to be a backup

Yeah i always felt foles was a starting caliber qb.
I can see jets, browns, buffalo, jaguars, cardinals, or even denver going after foles.
Foles is a tricky situation. If overthecap.com is right he is still under contract for 2018 at a cap hit of $7.6 million with $5.4 million in dead money if they cut him. And that is further complicated by the fact that he’s done pretty well stepping in for Wentz. If he takes them to the Super Bowl I don’t see them cutting him but they might trade him for a low draft pick just to get rid of his cap hit. I don’t see us getting him but if we could I think he’d be a good long term backup although an expensive one.

Logan Woodside would be a good later round pick from Toledo 6’2 215 lbs 28 TD’s to 8 INT
Hard not to like those numbers. Does he have any mobility?

Im not totally sold on bray either but i think reid would be ok with him. Id rather have bray than chase daniels. Im thinking we will draft a late round qb. I dont know all the fa qbs available so maybe a fa qb thats similar to mahomes or atleast where we wont have to change our whole offense.
I just wish we actually knew something about Bray…other than what was it???? 4 plays against Denver?

Hell no to chase daniels. Do yall need to be reminded chase daniels has a noodle arm. People need to realize you need a backup with similar style as the starter or else you have to change your whole offense. I think reid is drastically cater the offense to mahomes and if he goes down then he would habe to change offenses to cater to chase’s noodle arm. It kinda makes backup meaningless cuz if u habe to change offense then you cam just sign someone when starter goes down. Bray as #2 and draft a backup with similar traits as mahomes.
Bray as #2 makes me very nervous. Not because of anything I know but because I don’t know much of anything about him.

That’s it in a nutshell. Veach better be working some phones on a killer trade deal for Alex Smith.
Yeah….we’re caught between a rock and a hard place. Our once great Defense is aging and the ones that are aging are the leaders. Yet at the same time we mortgaged our future to get Mahomes and so as things stand now we don’t have the draft capital to bring in the new AND CHEAP blood our Defense desperately needs. I don’t know if Reid and Dorsey realized it at the time but they made a very dangerous gamble. They bet the Chiefs future on what we could trade Alex for this year. If we can recoup most of what we gave up to get Mahomes by trading Smith and Veach uses the picks we get from the trade well then we are all set for several years. Alternatively, if we can’t trade Alex for some serious draft capital then Mahomes may be in the same situation he was in college….no defense and trying to win a shootout every week. And we know how that went. The implications of the trade to get Mahomes are really starting to sink in for me. I worry that we are going to be forced to turn into “Air Coryell”.

There’s so many holes on the D to fix, so many injuries, I’m not sure where to begin on Sutton. Just going by the rankings alone I’d say let Sutton go, but think we really shot ourselves in the foot when we signed Berry and let Poe go, only to watch Berry get injured at the beginning of the season. We also didn’t do ourselves any favors in the previous offseason by addressing our cornerback situation, and Darrell Revis was a Band-Aid on a bullet hole.
My big concern is that Reid ran a lot of 4-3 defenses when he was in Philly, and if he decides to let Sutton go would want to switch back to a 4-3. With our current roster that would be an even worse disaster, and it would create more holes to plug.
And as things stand now we don’t have cap or draft picks to plug holes with.

That’s certainly an interesting suggestion. So you figure Bray can handle the #2 slot?

Kind of sucky that there’s probably not somebody out there willing to pay Houston the 13 mil we owe him + his 20 mil contract. Good or bad, injured or healthy, we stuck. We need to unleash Houston and allow him to terrorize qbs instead of dropping back in coverage. Otherwise, we’ll never get our money’s worth out of him at this stage in his career.
You ARE SO RIGHT! And we’re not going to get that unless we get decent pass rush from the right side. Hali used to do it but he can’t anymore and Ford (when he isn’t injured) is no Hali. Houston works from the left (most QBs blind side) and if we get some pressure from the right then the QB is at Houston’s mercy. But if we have no rush from the right then the enemy doubleteams Houston and we have no real pass rush. It’s not all about Houston, it’s about making sure that we have at least some reliable pressure from the right. Get some decent pressure from the right and Houston will eat QBs for breakfast.

If it was me I would give Chase a call
I see no problem with that. It’s risky since Daniel ain’t nothing great but if Alex and Bray are gone and Mahomes is #1 then we need at least someone that has a clue and hopefully someone that has worked in Reid’s Offense before.
