This is certainly the best entertainment of the day, directly in front of the Chiefs Bucs game.

He failed to mention the Colts would have ended the season with 6 or 7 wins.

Indy made a huge mistake but not this month. They overpaid Manning and neglected the rest of the team assuming Peyton was super human. That is on Manning as well and is equally his fault. Great your the most badass regular season qb in recent history and 1-1 in superbowls. Irsay put himself in a position where he had no other choice but to get away from that nightmare contract. They put all there eggs in one basket and went 2-14 when it went to hell. We will see if they learned from this mistake when they rebuild the team around Luck.

Stay tuned because you will see the Donks in a similar situation in the very near future, if he makes it through the 2012 season….

YEP! You got this one right.

As has been mentioned, in a somewhat meandering way, the only way the Colts could have got any picks for Manning was to have another team assume his contract or to have picked up the $28 million bonus to keep him under contract so they could negotiate with another team for picks. What would have been the point? That $28 million would pay for 3 or 4 top free agents or to buy the first round draft picks outright. Severing the contract was the only way to free up the $50 million total bonus/salary they would have been responsible for.

I never mentioned that they should trade Manning, I’m not sure any team would have given them anything for Manning, considering his high price and the risk he would be.

I was saying trade the #1 pick, like the Rams did. They could have easily got more then the Rams did.

Bottom line is the Colts were in over their heads and had to dump him, his salary was killing them, and has been for sometime now. They could not have dumped him, because of the fans, except that he was injured, and Luck appears to be a great one.

I still think the Colts as a team would rebound much quicker if they had traded the first pick on 2012.

And although the 1 spot is only one up on the 2 spot in the draft, one might think they could have gotten say a couple of extra 2nd round picks from the ‘skins. Seems they don’t need any picks… hey maybe we could trade someone with them we don’t need, we could use a couple extra picks. :D

You are exactly right, the #1 spot has a lot more value then the #2 does. They would likely have gotten a second and third more then the Rams got, possibly more, depending on the spot of the first round picks.
In lots of instances draft picks are more valuable then money itself.

I’m sure the biggest reason they let Manning go was not because of his surgery, but because of the 28 million he had coming to him. No QB is worth that! That is far too much invested in one player, that can have a season ending injury at any given play.

Time will tell, but I believe The Colts could have done much better.

I think that they could have done better by trading the #1 pick and got compensated say like the rams did. If Manning was too much risk for them they could have signed Tebowe, Flynn, or any of several others. Then with the 3 extra first round pick they could have one heck of a team. Plus they could have used the extra picks trade up and get a QB next year. It appears that there may be 4 maybe 5 good qbs in the 2013 draft. This way they could have a good qb with less then half the cost of Luck, and with the trade they could build the rest of the team.

I dont wish death on the guy, but there are a lot of people that die every single day that deserve my sympathy a lot more that he does. Looking the other way while children get molested is just as bad as doing it in my book.

If Im the getaway driver in a bank robbery and someone inside gets shot, Im still guilty of accessory to murder….joe is an accessory to child molestation and if someone like that dies, im not gonna lose a wink of sleep over it.

I’ve got 4 kids and I kinda felt the same way.

And he lived a very full, long life.

    Awesome man!

    #988993

    Their QB is Manning.

    Our QB (palko) in Manless.

They both defend the pass well on one and one, and both are able to stuff the run.

The Giants should be calling Crennel and thanking him for the game plan.
