As requested Pre Game discussion for the Super Bowl. Still doesn’t seem real that the Chiefs are IN THE SUPER BOWL.

    Here are my thoughts

As I stated earlier I think the biggest key to the game is the O line. If the Chiefs O line gives Mahomes time to throw then I really do not see the 49ers having the offensive fire power to keep up with the offense. Given that the offense is rolling like normal. But their defense is going to make that a challenge.

The biggest scares I have when it comes to the 49ers are first that defense. Lets be real it’s one of if not the best defenses in the NFL. They can get to the QB and if that happens the 49ers can very well walk out with the win.

The other scare I have is their TE. TE’s have over the years given the Chiefs trouble. See Gates.Gronk for the best examples. Kittle is a very good TE and is someone that could give the Chiefs real trouble.

I think that the Chiefs have a really great chance to get the win. Chiefs 28 49ers 24

The 49ers have a rich playoff history to be sure.

But that doesn’t mean history is in their favor going into this game.

The Chiefs must win in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

The Saints did put up 46 points on the Niners, so even though the Niners Defense is pretty good, they can be had if an opposing Offense goes about it right.

Coaching will be a big factor and the Chiefs coaches must be ready to make adjustments as needed.

You know I’m seeing all this talk all over the web regarding Kareem Hunt and Eric Berry, seemingly pining for their return to KC

Suck it the F up and GET OVER IT & MOVE ON. Neither Hunt nor Berry are going to be returning to KC — period!! The Chiefs owe Berry 8 mill in dead money next season and will not resign him, and Hunt’s off-field antics have been well-documented. Neither of these two have any influence or anything to do with the Chiefs making it to SB 54, and both of them brought their unceremonious ends in KC upon themselves.

If there is any former Chiefs player that deserves credit for his services that helped KC arrive to this moment, it’s Alex Smith.

Kind of an irony that both of Alex Smith’s former teams are playing in SB 54.

Let’s hope that Alex’s 2nd team (KC) takes his 1st team (SF) to the cleaners this Sunday.

Wait a minute, wasn’t Joe Montana’s 1st team the 49ers and his 2nd team KC?. Why yes, same as Alex Smith, even if the similarities end there.

Let’s hope our current Chiefs QB — Patrick Mahomes — displays one particular similarity to Joe Montana. And the was Montana’s aura of invincibility in the Super Bowl game itself.

While the 49’ers are a really good team, and certainly have earned their right to be in Miami, they are in no way invincible. Yeah they had that spectacular game against the Saints, but it surprises me that nobody mentions how they turned around and lost to the Falcons. Has anyone done a strength of victories comparison between the 49’er’s and Chiefs? While I think we should respect the 49’ers and not expect a walkaway win, they have to contend with us, too.

Think KC will, at some point in the game, pull away from them in a way they can’t recover. This years’ team is able to adjust both offensively AND defensively. This is NOT the same squad that Shanahan’s dad played against in the nineties.

BINGO!! This current Chiefs team has wiped out double digit opposing leads in 3 straight playoff appearances — something those nineties teams were NEVER capable of.

It’s a testament of our current QB (Patrick Mahomes) & how he can respond to challenge with his back against the wall. He’s been through the pressure cooker and survived. The same can’t be said for the 49ers current QB, as he hasn’t had to do anything in this post-season except hand the ball off.

Actually having a DC that can adjust is a huge reason why the Chiefs made it here.

If you look at the team it’s is a full 180 from last year. Last year the D would actually start out pretty good. Then went downhill. This year they sometimes start out struggling but regroup. If we had Spags last year we would have been in the super bowl last year. I really believe that

Chiefs defense no one is really paying attention to and will probably be the dagger in the heart for the 49ers. While some are saying the 49ers have such a different style of offense, the Chiefs defense is a different style of defense in which you never know when that blitz is coming, they have good gap management and they have linebackers with the speed to run sideline to sideline with any team. The front four can get tremendous push off the snap which creates havoc for any team. The secondary has enough speed and power to stay with the 49er receiver’s, if we can stay with Texan receivers we can shut down the 49ers which mostly use play action. In my opinion the 49ers had a first half light schedule and that’s why their numbers look good. The Chiefs played a tougher schedule to get hear and played better on the road. Once the Chiefs draw blood they will run away with this game and put up a lot of points on the 49ers.

I will post this again from Matt’s AFCCG preview:

Dear Andy Reid & the rest of the Chiefs team:

    Please employ basic marksmanship principles:

POINT THE GUN IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION AND SHOOT AT THE CORRECT TARGET !!

In other words, do NOT repeatedly shoot yourself in the foot in this game.

Shoot the 49ers in the feet, instead. This is what it is going to come down to once again in the upcoming Super Bowl game on Sunday.

Spags has taken this D a LONG way from where it started out. From the beginning of this season up until the first Broncos game, Spags’ D was looking like Sutton’s version of a 4-3. But to his and the team’s credit, they turned it around and KC got treated to a really communicative 4-3, much improved play at safety from Tyrann Mathieu, and CB’s that are whipping their heads around looking for the ball instead of being surprised they got flagged. Picking up Terrell Suggs at the end of the season was icing on the cake. These improvements & additions certainly got us over the AFCCG hump; Hopefully it’ll get us a Lombardi.

Trying to look at the 49’ers, this is the big glaring thing I see. They’ve won some good games, yes, but they’ve also lost some questionable ones.

Hopefully we can dominate the line and blow up any play-action tricks before it gets past their center. Very curious to see if they’ll run the bootleg, which Shanahan’s dad seemed to use pretty effectively when he coached the Broncos against Gunther Cunningham’s 4-3.

I was over at Chiefs.com listening to a podcast called “In The Trenches” and I heard this narrative of “no team coming into the Super Bowl that has sacked opposing QB’s 55 times or more during the season has ever lost“.

    This isn’t correct.

In 1967, the Oakland Raiders sacked opposing QB’s 67 times during the 14 game regular season, but guess what? They LOST Super Bowl II to the Packers 33-14 !!

The narrative is meaningless, anyways. It falls along the same line as saying before the 2019 season “the Chiefs have never made it to the SB with a starting QB that they drafted”, which was true for 59 seasons, but guess what? The Chiefs are entering SB 54 with a starting QB that they drafted.

Notwithstanding, and as we’ve said before, the Chiefs O-Line will need to bring its A+ game. So far this post-season, they have done a great job and will need to keep it going.

What we are seeing IS the single greatest season KC has had since 1969.

What better way to cap it off then with a SB victory.

I said earlier in the season at one point that i don’t think that Spags has gotten enough credit for the job that he did.

We all knew that it would be a work in progress but I don’t think it would get to where it is today. They held Derrick Henry who was running all over EVERYONE even some great D’s to 69 yards. Just unreal and would never have happened a couple of month ago

We just have to hope that work continues. The TE spot has given this teams defense trouble over the years just as the Running game has. Hopefully they get that fixed for Sunday. They are going to need to

Today, at work, I just had a 49ers fan (who doesn’t even know me & saw me browsing this site) boast at me that the 49ers were going to win.

    I said nothing.

I will tell you all this. The last 5 times (going back to 1994) the teams have met on a grass field with the Chiefs wearing their standard home uniforms and the Niners wearing their standard road uniforms, it has NOT gone well for the 49ers. Such will be the case this coming Sunday.

The 49ers and their fans are treading in dangerous water. They are confident but overconfidence will cost them the game. If you underestimate the Chiefs then you are in trouble. They barely beat the Rams and Seahawks and if not for a delay of game penalty on the Seahawks for first place in their division we just might be playing the Seahawks on Sunday. The 49ers defense struggled against Russell Wilson and also against the Rams play action pass. They had trouble on offense when ever a teams defensive front got good push off the snap in which I look for Chris Jones to do very much damage up front and penetrate into the 49er backfield to pressure and sack Jimmy G. Not to mention Frank Clark coming off the edge. If the Chiefs put up points early the 49ers know they are in trouble. The first time we burn Richard Sherman over the top for six that changes everything and the 49ers DC will have to make quick changes which will open up the other side of the field for six. If the Chiefs take care of the ball and execute on both sides of the ball then the 49ers are in for a long day of disappointment.
